Boris Hoppek

Kreutzal, Germany, 1970

Boris is in love with Barcelona and claims to have finally gotten used to taking a nap...

Boris Hoppek, a German of origin, lives and works in Barcelona, where his chalk and spray-painted drawings appear on the walls from time to time.

In his work he poses, from a strangely ambiguous perspective, themes such as love, sex, struggle, racism, nationalism or immigration in a game in which irony plays an important role through forms of exceptional simplicity and personality.

Hoppek is a multi-faceted artist, whose work ranges from the most direct art such as graffiti to elaborate cardboard shoes. He is a master of "freestyle sewing", producing each of his "bimbosculptures" by hand - rag dolls for adults that have nothing to do with the asexual products of the toy industry. The Bimbos, like the rest of her characters, have a penis and a vagina, they are sexy, colourful, funny, perverse, aggressive, morbid...

The work of this German artist captures the most colourful and festive aspect of play and life, and by extension the spikes that surround it.
