José Guerrero

Granada, Spain, 194-1991

José Guerrero moved to New York in 1949 where he interacts with abstract expressionist artists and participates with his work in different exhibitions, where he finds his place in the art world, with his own language that was discovered as a measure that is incorporated into art gestural close to the first generation of the School of New York.

Later on, he returned to Spain with his family and his friendship with the informalists of the Cuenca group meant the definitive reunion of Guerrero with his native country. In the seventies, Guerrero became a reference for a new generation of Spanish painters who defended the recovery of the taste for painting, for its conception and practice, based on experimentation with the fields of color and abstract but not empty of content. 1984, receives the gold medal for merit in the Fine Arts.
