David Lechuga
Madrid 1950.
The sculptor David Lechuga was born in Madrid, where he studied at the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas and the Círculo de Bellas Artes. He was awarded several scholarships to continue his studies, among them the scholarship at the Hoger Instituut Voor Schon-Kunsten, in Belgium. He is an artist known for his polychrome wood carvings inspired by cubist and surrealist art. In them he represents any living body, even making groupings of anthropomorphic bodies, capturing mythological and everyday scenes, with references to primitive African art, among others. He has held countless exhibitions, both individual and collective, in different galleries and museums. He is part of collections as emblematic as the Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofía.
