Traditional culture in the West and among them pictorial, is governed, in general, by established rules. I have no interest in accommodating those rules. My work and my philosophy go in other ways.

I try to capture the mental principle of artistic creation at its root, where the first impulse is born, still virgin of any contamination.

My work, therefore, is governed by parameters known as art or "outsider" style. In painting, as in other facets of art, there are styles that, perhaps, because they belong to what is normally established, enjoy general acceptance, attention and respect. Others, on the contrary, are discarded or, at least, undervalued and cornered in the attic of the non-commercial.

Works by people lacking artistic culture, in which mimicry has had little or no influence, draw motifs, selection of materials, methods, rhythms and styles of their own selves, outside of classical art or fashion art. Thanks to them we can contemplate the artistic work in its purest form, reinvented in each and every one of its phases by the painter, and based only on his own impulses. An art, therefore, where the creative invention is absolutely manifested.

This art is classified, however, with condescension and self-sufficiency, as typical of "children", "primitives" and even "crazy". Personally, in recent times I have researched and worked on how to "feel" the painting practiced by people with intellectual disabilities, and I find it very interesting, indeed, for its primitiveness and pictorial anti-culture. Most are self-taught and with a rudimentary instruction that does not prevent them, however, outside the cultural environment and preserved from their influence, show that artistic creation is not a privilege of exceptional individuals, despite being conditioned or altered because of the situation social and permeability against inherited myths.
