Almeria, Spain, 1930
Carlos Pérez Siquier was born in Almería on December 14, 1930. His training goes through the School of Arts and Crafts in the capital, although his work is carried out at the Banco de Santander, where he remains for three decades.
The activity of Carlos Pérez Siquier as a photographer is part of the constitution of the AFAL group, promoter and diffuser of the young Spanish photography outside its borders and vice versa, of which it is carried out abroad. He is responsible for the magazine published by the group and is a correspondent for the Photographique de Paris Club Les 30 x 4. His relations with international photography are maintained by authors such as Steichen or Steinert.
From the beginning it deserves all kinds of awards and is selected for countless samples. Together with other professionals, Carlos Pérez is responsible for the so-called agri-training of Andalusian photography, as well as the predominant and recognized role that this profession assumes since then.
For the Ministry of Information and Tourism, where he entered in 1963, he carried out several works with which he won awards in Italy and Japan. He will also direct the Everfoto Spanish Photography Yearbook, which offers the best images taken in several years. Pérez Siquier was the Spanish representative in the International Meetings of Arles, in France, for a year later assuming the position of vice president in the Chamber of Commerce of Almeria. In the late 80's Kodak-Salvat selects him for the Creative Encyclopedia of Photography, as to appear in International Master Photography. In the same way, it takes part in the most important exhibition of Spanish creative photographers and was held in Marseille. His photographs have occupied rooms in Belgium, France, Germany or the United States.
